We understand why determining which medical professional to see for any particular health concern can be confusing and, for many of our patients, a complicated decision. Most people first see their primary care physician and then try to get recommendations to see a specialist.

When people have problems with their veins, including varicose or spider veins that are cause pain or discomfort, visiting the Chicago Vein Institute should be your first choice.

Our Expert Staff

With the top vein care specialists on staff (otherwise known as phlebologists), we have the expertise to diagnose your condition quickly and accurately. Our doctors are all board-certified and have extensive experience in all types of patient care, including serving on staff at the major hospitals throughout Chicago and surrounding areas.

Dr. Sunje is an internationally recognized leader in phlebology and has extensive experience and specialization in all disorders related to the vascular system in the body. Dr. Chan is a specialist in the field of Microsurgery and reconstructive and plastic surgery and oncology. Dr. Federbusch is a pioneer in the area of nonsurgical injection treatments of varicose and spider veins, and a much sought-after professional in the field.

Treatment Possibilities

Many of our patients assume they will just have to live with the pain, discomfort, and tired feeling in the legs and feet associated with varicose and spider veins. However, through our minimally or nonsurgical procedures, or even with microsurgery, our vein care specialists can resolve these problems.

Not only will the discomfort of varicose and spider veins be eliminated, but the unsightly look of these prominent veins can be reversed. This can occur with a single treatment, giving you back confidence and erasing the signs of varicose or spider veins.

Treatment can include the use of injections, which cause the veins to close. When the veins close, and there is no blood flow, they will collapse and simply be absorbed back into the body over time. Lasers and microsurgery can also be used to either stop blood flow through the vein or completely remove small sections of the veins.

Our vein care specialists will meet with you to provide a full consultation to determine which treatment option is best for your specific vein needs. They will also discuss the treatment options and answer any questions you may have about the procedure, the outcomes, and the very minimal post-procedure issues with any of the treatments we use.
